In 2013, 4 families moved from the midwest to San Diego to start Rise City Church.

We started with a dream that we could be a place where disconnected people could find connection to Jesus and others. We prayed that this church would be a place for people to come and experience love, life, hope and healing in Jesus’ name.

Our desire is to create opportunities for everyone to grow in their relationship with Christ, as well as to partner with families to help raise kids who love Jesus. Whether it’s on Sunday mornings here at Rise City, online, in homes throughout the week, or other opportunities – there is a place at Rise City for you!

Our vision as a church is to be a community of people who are used by God to bring hope and healing to His world through love and life-giving actions all in the name of Jesus.

We want to be a church the helps those far from God draw near to Him, to see people live the amazing life God created them to experience and to realize they can be used by God to help others do the same, in other words – to Wake Up to Jesus, Rise to Life in Him and Shine to others.

Our Staff

Brandon Grant is the founding and lead pastor of Rise City Church. Compelled by Isaiah 42:4 which states, “…the coastlands wait for His teaching,” his family moved from the land of cornfields in Illinois to the coastlands of San Diego in 2012 to start Rise City Church. Prior to moving to San Diego, Brandon was a college pastor for almost 10 years.

Brandon and Jamie were married in 2006, and have four children – Elyse, Shepherd, Hope and Connor – who keep them on their toes and filled with joy. Brandon loves seeing people experience the love and grace of Jesus, as well as a great cup of coffee, coaching his boys’ baseball teams, traveling with Jamie, pickleball, watching movies, and hanging out with his family!
